Chauna Payne has had a lifelong obsession with hair. As early as 5, Chauna has always been in the salon. Her motivation comes from both her grandmothers, who were salon owners. She has always loved the way that one can express themselves through different styles. Whether short or long, hair defines who the person is, wants to be or wants to convey to others.

Chauna Payne has been a licensed Cosmetologist for 10 years and holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri. She worked at Walgreens as an Insurance Biller and at Children’s Hospital on the Neurology/Neurosurgery Unit. She owns KRK Premier Hair Collection and KRK Medical Solutions. Chauna is a certified trainer through the Look Good, Feel Better program administered by The American Cancer Society, a certified Mastectomy Fitter and a Prosthetic/Orthotic Supplier.

For the past 5 years, Chauna has been designing, constructing and ordering wigs for clients, especially those experiencing hair loss as a direct result of chemotherapy, radiation, medications and other related treatments. Most of her clients are excited to know that most insurance companies will cover the cost of these units without a penny “out of pocket”. The rebuilding of self-esteem is a big part of daily life, and as you know, hair loss can greatly impact both the person experiencing cancer as well as their families mentally, psychologically, emotionally, and physically.  Her clients boast that their greatest cosmetologic concern is the loss of their natural -looking hair. Chauna uses every opportunity to spread the word about her business at events throughout the year.

The wigs Chauna orders for her clients are either full lace or lace front units, giving the patients a natural looking hairline. She also hand crafts inexpensive units as well when the insurance company denies or will not cover the cost so that everyone can still feel beautiful as they are KICKING HAIR LOSS ASS!! She also offers an array of products such as Men’s facial hair, makeup kits, scarves, eyebrows and eyelashes.

This plan is very close to her heart because her mother is a 32 year breast cancer survivor.  Her continued strength and perseverance has been a driving force for her medical insurance training program and the creation of Celeste, a bald fairy princess aimed at giving children an image that reflects what they see in the mirror and how they may feel while experiencing hair loss. Hair loss is a key side effect of most medical drugs, and a very real component of beauty. Chauna wants everyone to have an understanding of how Cosmetologists play a part in helping hair loss patients, and those suffering from debilitating illnesses, to feel great about themselves despite their life-shattering diagnosis.
